A New Home for a Reading

Hi Friends of Gracewell Productions!

It has been a while since we have had the pleasure to gather for a play reading. I have been very busy over the past year creating a new organization -- The CT Theater Women Network. It has been a lot of work, but I so enjoy collaborating with my Co-Founders Mary Miko and Marie Reynolds to serve women in theater in Connecticut.

Now that we are on our way (look for our big events in March 2027), I am excited to be asked to produce a reading as part of the Page2Stage series at Theaterworks New Milford, where my dear friend, Dorothy Lyman, has just been named artistic director!

Please join us for a reading of To Each Their Own by Tracey Knight Narang, directed by Carol Ziske at 2 pm Sunday, Aug. 2 at the theater, 20 Elm Street Extension New Milford, CT.

To Each Their Own is a compelling story of three women, three choices, and how they affect them and the men in their lives. After years of heartbreaking infertility, career couple Liz and John unexpectedly become pregnant. Joy and honesty are quickly replaced by jealousy and deceit when important moral issues and a dark family secret threaten their marriage. To Each Their Own will tug at your heart leaving you to wonder what you would do... 

The play is about 90 minutes with no intermission. We will have a short talkback following the reading where you will have a chance to ask questions and give input. As you know, almost all of the plays given readings by Gracewell have gone on to further development and full productions, so your input really can make a difference!.

The theater (yes, it's air conditioned) charges a $5 ticket for this reading series. You can purchase a ticket (and choose your seats  by clicking here. Note: the theater's restrooms are down a flight of stairs and there is no elevator. Free parking is available at the theater.

About the Playwright:

Tracey Knight Narang is a New York-based Tony Award-winning producer, playwright, and president of TKN Productions, producing theatre on Broadway and the West End, as well as films. She is also the co-owner of TNT Productions. Select credits include The Who's Tommy, Oklahoma!, David Byrne's American Utopia, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf, and the upcoming revival of Dreamgirls. Tracey is a member of the League of Professional Theatre Women, The CT Theater Women Network and the Dramatists Guild of America. She is also a former board member of New York City Center and the Westport Country Playhouse.

About the Director:

CAROL ZISKE is an accomplished theatre director, choreographer, actor, and educator with over five decades of professional experience. Her acting credits include the original Broadway run of Fiddler on the Roof and the first national tour of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. She has shared the stage with luminaries such as John Lithgow, Robert Morse, Rudy Vallee, Rita Rudner, Chip Zien, Jerry Zaks, and F. Murray Abraham, and has worked under acclaimed directors including Hal Prince and Patricia Birch. Carol’s extensive Off-Broadway and regional directing credits include Valadon, Mad Dog on the Loose, The Snow Queen, Harvey, Anne of Green Gables, Mame, Evita, Our Town, and Love Letters. She recently directed The Fantasticks, Love Letters, Villains of Broadway, Winter Wonderettes, New Playwrights Festival, Idiomatic, Hurricane Jimmy, and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying for The Press Box Theater in Southbury, CT. She also directed One Touch of Ava for Gracewell's Staged InTent series at Ivoryton Playhouse. Carol is thrilled Their Own. She is collaborating with composer  to be directing this reading of Tracey's play To EachWilliam Linster on new musicals including Quentin: A Roosevelt Musical and Hurricane Jimmy. She serves on the Advisory Committee for the CT Theater Women Network and recently served as director and associate producer of the CT Theatre Women Awards. Carol extends many thanks to Laurens Yarger for this opportunity, as well as to Dorothy Lyman and TheatreWorks New Milford for their continued success in supporting new works. She is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association.
