Gracewell Producer Lauren Yarger to Receive Award, Launch New Theater Women Organization in Connecticut

Big news is brewing in Connecticut. Gracewe;;
s Lauren Yarger, who co-founded the state Chapter of the League of Professional Theater Women, announced that a brand new organization ofr theater women has been formed.
The CT Theater Women Network will launch July 1. Joining her in co-founding the new 501 (c)(20 aew Marie Reynolds and Mary Miko, who also co founded the chapter. The Chapter;s current Steering Committee of Maureen Hamill, Sheree Marcucci, Emma Palzere-Rae, Virginia Wolf and Carol Ziske also will join the new organization as it Steering Committee.
"The timing is right to take our vision and plans to the next level," said Yarger.
The Co-Founders have operated activity in Connecticut for the past nine years as a Chapter of the League of Professional Theatre Women in New York. When the Co-Founders began a new five-year plan, they realized that gowth and changes have created new needs for serving women in the state and region and that an independent CT-based 501 (c)(3) is what is needed.
The CT Theater Women Network will hold networking gatherings and lunches beginning this summer. Look for one near you! In addition, other exciting events will be offered in the 2025-26 season. And in 2027, the Newtork will offer a second month of Celebrate! events (prodced by Yarger), including the CT Theater Women Awards and the Women Playwrights Festival, in March. In addition, this this newsletter will continue to be sent the second Wednesday of the month, only with a new look beginning in July.
In addition, The CT Critics Circle has announced that Yarger will be the recipient of its Killen Award, named for late theater critic Tom Killen, is the highest honor the Connecticut Critics Circle bestows. It is for a lifetime of dedication to the theater and to theater in Connecticut. The ceremony will be held Monday, June 23 at Housatonic Community College, Bridgeport. Tickets to the event are free.
